Details: The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program, also known as the Section 8 Program, is a federal program funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The Program assists eligible households to find decent, safe and affordable housing. Participants generally pay from 30-40% of their monthly income for rent and AHA subsidizes the difference in a payment made directly to the landlord (up to a specific rent limit called the payment standard). Participants are assisted in privately owned housing. Families can rent an apartment, a single-family home, a condominium, or a mobile home.
